Description
The Australian (or Australasian) Darter is one of four species of darters found in the tropical wetlands of the world. They feed by diving underwater and spearing fish with their lance-like beak. Darters lack the waterproofing oils that keep ducks dry and able to fly dirrectly from the water. As a result they must dry in the sun and keep their feathers well groomed after each dive.
